Study and career choice

Choices about which subjects to study are made in mid-adolescence, at a time when behaviours are changing significantly. This is why personality approaches based on behaviours, such as the MBTI, or on skills, are not sufficient to help a young person make choices about his or her future. It even sometimes happens that young people choose the opposite of what suits them, because they are going through a period when they are experimenting with opposites and no longer really know who they are.

The Enneagram is based on the drives underlying behaviours. During adolescence the personality Type is not hidden, it asserts itself clearly. This is why we can use the HPEI questionnaire as an indicator of a young adult’s Type, relying on the Enneagram. Under ‘HPEI and scientific studies’ you will find information on how our HPEI questionnaire gives the best correlations between ‘career anchors’, unlike other tools.

It is therefore not just a matter of luck that the Enneagram is today recognised as a benchmark tool in the field of educational coaching and support in making choices. Several school coaches have in fact been awarded certification with us.

This is also the reason why we are currently working with the Ministry of Employment for the Brussels Region. In the framework of a project for “embarking on professional life”, we will help 3,000 young people make choices about their studies and their professional future, based on the Enneagram.
